wellingborough hockey club Wellingborough hockey club W ellingborough HC is a well-run, family establishment that provides people with an opportunity to enjoy the game in a safe and enjoyable environment. Their Treasurer Rob Leslie-Carter recently took the time to speak with Sport in Profile Magazine. a Im He told us, “I’ve been playing hockey for over 30 years. The game has been a massive part of my life and I even met my wife in a crowded hockey clubhouse 20 or so years ago. When my family and I moved back to Northamptonshire from Sydney three years ago, Wellingborough was the perfect club for lots of reasons – it was local, the coaching and facilities were excellent, the people were super friendly (even when I told them how long it had been since I’d broken into a full sprint), and the youth set up meant my whole family could get involved. “In the three seasons I’ve been at ‘Boro’ I’ve been the old bloke playing in the middle of the 2nd XI defence. I’m enjoying playing competitively each week, and especially helping young players ge to develop and learn to s play the game in the right co ur spirit – playing hard to win tes yo but fairly and with respect, and f An drew Wade always with a smile on your face. “Boro is a great club for families. My wife Claire and daughter Isabel (15) both play for the Ladies 2nd team and have been keeping their eye in this summer playing in a seven a side league.
