Head Coach Eddie Gooby also took the time to speak with us, saying “I believe the
foundation for our success has been put into place over the past eight years. We now have a
constant flow of young players returning from University combined with some good players
coming to the club.
Putting all this together with a very good young coaching team who have got the best out of all the players through a lot of hard work
over the past three years, with the result that the squad have become a very tight unit who enjoy the style of rugby we are trying to
achieve.
For me the youth is the future of Chelmsford Rugby club. Yes the first team are the flag ship of the club and set the standards but the work
we do with the youth is a massive investment in the club’s future.
My philosophy is if you are good enough then you deserve a chance and the records show that at Chelmsford many seventeen year old
players have made their first team debuts in the last eight years I have been involved at the club.
