Although Batman appeared in a few film serials in the 1940’s
and then later in the 1960’s, it was only after the popularity
of the character began to wane that Warner Bros. decided to
produce a series of big feature films starring Batman. The films
themselves have evolved substantially over the years, becoming
increasingly dark and gritty.
