Roaming the floors, you’ll
find yourself pushing your way
through enthusiastic crowds, their
excitement palpable, and their
fanboyism infectious. Interspersed
between the big, loud stands that
dominate the floor are smaller
ones, some dealing in clothing,
some in art and some showcasing
the local indie scene, which at
rAge 2013 saw a great deal of
traffic with the home_coded/
Make Games SA stand.
Speaking of local - the Artists'
Alley allows artists to showcase
and sell their work – bringing
some of the best South African
comic and anime artists right into
the public eye. Anyone who is
someone in the local comic scene
shows face at this gathering, and
you’ll find well known comic
artists selling and signing copies
of their work alongside up and
coming illustrators.

There are queues upon queues
of people, all patiently standing in
line awaiting their turn to get to
grips with Batman: Arkham Origins,
FIFA, Ryse, Forza – and if you’re
lucky, you may even get a chance
to see some of the international
game developers talk you through
pre-release builds of their games,
