SPLICED GAMING / REVIEW / Rayman Legends "Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!" G ameplay wise not much has really changed. It’s still an excellent platformer, with responsive and intuitive controls. The introduction of Murfy the fly as a playable character is a nice addition, especially as you can use him to cut ropes and manipulate levers. There are boss stages which sadly are a little formulaic, but still good fun. Level wise, each one has its own unique look and feel, ranging from medieval, to underwater or “20 000 Lums Under the Sea”, to my personal favourite, a Mexican Day of the Dead theme. There’s also an additional “Return to Origins” section which offers unlockable remixed levels from the Origins game. Visual design is where this game really 100 shines – the cartoon look and feel of Origins has been given a semi-3D facelift, and a gorgeous handpainted look has been added to make it look rich and inviting. The animation is fluid and flawless, and the music and sound effects are as impeccable as ever. If you think this is like any other platformer you’re sorely mistaken. Rayman Legends is an absolute delight, and there are some truly brilliant moments contained within this beautiful adventure. This is modern day platforming at its best and most playful. If you played Origins, you’ll love this, and if you’ve never played a Rayman game, then this is a damn good place to start. The entire package comes together magnificently. It’s not flawless, but it’s impressive nonetheless.? 8 Verdict A fitting addition to the Rayman franchise. It’s fun, lighthearted and accessible to all members of the family. ISSUE 01
