Sometimes we have to go down a few dead-end roads before we learn. Sometimes we get sad, and that’s OK.

None of it is a waste.

And sometimes, we realize the answer was right in front of us. Like Dorothy, we were running all over the enchanted land looking for someone else to save us. And the magic was in us all the time.

All we had to do was claim it.

And so, I did. Years after I’d known in my bones I’m a Witch, I said it on line.

I was deeply freaked out. What would people SAY?

I remembered what had happened, years before, when I got brave enough to wear a very small pentacle as my standard necklace.

People who’d said they were fellow New Age travelers told me later they had

initially been afraid of me, because of that tiny necklace.

So yes, I was a little afraid of telling my on-line community of coaches and healers and light-workers that I’m a Witch.

And you know what happened?

I was cheered. It was one of the most positively-received posts I’ve ever made. Many of the women who responded said they also were Witches.

Now that I’ve been a public Witch for a while, it’s all easier. I know how my business’s various magical pieces fit together. Of course I use feng shui, and spells, and shamanic journeying, and the Wheel of the Year. Of course I time actions by the movement of the stars and the phases of the moon. Of course I can listen to what’s being said and what’s left unsaid as I work with clients.

I’m a Witch. A Suburban Housewitch.
