As African Americans we are
disproportionately impacted by health disparities. We must take time to learn how
these disparities impact our community. In September we have four very important
health topics to discuss so that we can increase awareness in the AA community.
There will be lots of screenings, health fairs, and celebrations held locally this
month to celebrate awareness. The following is information about all four. Please
feel free to share this information with a loved one. You may just save a life!
Ovarian Cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the ovaries. Women have two
ovaries, one on each side of the uterus. The ovaries each about the size of an
almond produce eggs (ova) as well as the hormones estrogen and progesterone.
