SPORTS BALLIN’ OUT By Lawrence “King Law” Davis DUKE FB: The Blue Devils were on top of the Coastal Division with Georgia Tech right on their heels. Both teams were the only ones to manage to have two losses or less in the slightly weaker division of the ACC, yet a victory in Atlanta gave Duke an advantage in a tie-break situation. Duke lost two out of the last three in their final three home game stretch to end their season. They had a heartbreaker to Virginia Tech slip away from them before regaining their composure to face their rivals from down the street. The Blue Devils came out and turned the ball over twice in the first half while giving up more points in the first quarter than they averaged all season in a lopsided loss to the Tar Heels. The loss to UNC knocked the Blue Devils from ACC Championship repeat contention but however Duke has a strong 8-3 record heading in to what should be a wild bowl season. Sidenote: Jamison Crowder is slowly climbing the list of the all-time receptions leader of the ACC. He is 16 catches (268) behind his former teammate Conner Vernon from the record of 283 set back in 2012. He recently became the 11th player in the ACC to have over 5000 all-purpose yards in a career.
