Progress — 2014 Page 29 Salon & Spa on Railroad strives to offer guests relaxed experience Have you strolled down Railroad Street in Eagle River lately? It’s one of the busiest streets in town with many new businesses popping up and many others that are prospering and doing well. The Salon & Spa on Railroad happens to be one of those businesses. The historic building, once a small-engine repair shop, has gone through quite a transformation on the inside. The business, located at 123 N. Railroad St., has become one of the most popular full-service salon and spas in the North Woods. Under new ownership as of May 2013, the salon and spa strives to offer guests a professional, relaxing salon experience, according to owner Jacki Greene. From the moment a guest walks in, they are greeted with the salon’s flavored water of the day or a cup of AVEDA’S comforting tea. “Our service providers really listen and do a full consultation to understand the needs of the guests so the whole experience from beginning to end is wonderful,” said Greene. “Also, we pride ourselves in our added value services, a scalp massage with your haircut and a hand massage while your color is processing and, of course, a quick lipstick touch-up to make sure you are ready to get back to your day.” The salon is an AVEDA Concept salon, which means it uses and sells only AVEDA products. Being trained at an AVEDA Institute 16 years ago, Greene is a strong supporter of AVEDA’s philosophy of giving back to the environment and communities as well as using only the purest of plant and flower essences to create their lines of hair care, skin care and body care. The AVEDA color line is 98% naturally derived. All stylists at the Salon & Spa on Railroad are encouraged to attend continuing education provided by AVEDA. “We do have to travel to Milwaukee or Minneapolis, but in this industry I feel you constantly need to stay up on the trends and challenge yourself to benefit not only yourself, but for our guests as well,” said Greene. The Salon & Spa on Railroad not only provides hair services, but also is a full-service spa that specializes in nail services and skin care. The spa offers manicure and pedicures, including the no-chip Shellac Manicure. They also provide facials that are suited to guests’ specific skin care needs.
