Summary of the Book: The story was about a girl named Lucia, and her brother Frankie, who encounters trouble in her country and with her friends and family because of the revolution in Cuba. She ends up moving to the United States and her and her brother live with the Harpers in Grand Island, Nebraska. They learn a new way of life by learning a new language, how to fit in with American kids at school, and seeing snow for the first time. Do they ever reunite with their parents? Does Lucia and Frankie adapt to America? Read the book to find out!
What I liked most about being in Mrs. White’s Book Club: We loved Mrs. White’s Book Club because we learned about the history of Cuba and Fidel Castro. Reading and talking about the book as a group made us better understand the story. We also loved the snacks and meeting new
people!
