Elections for Chamber Board of Directors The Nominating Committee of the Chamber Board of Directors is recommending three candidates for vacant board seats which will be filled by election in November. Greg Brickl (Brickl Brothers) and Shobi Nunemacher (Referral Staffing Solutions) are recommended for re- election for a second term. Lance Hauser (Park Bank) is being recommended to fill a seat vacated by John Hoekstra. All members will receive a ballot in November. Chamber by-laws allow for additional candidates to be placed on the ballot: “Additional names of candidates for directors can be nominated by petition bearing the genuine signatures of at least five (5) qualified members of the Chamber. Such petition shall be filed with the nominating Committee within ten (10) days after notice has been given of the names of those nominated and must be accompanied by a signed petition declaring the candidates willingness to serve as director. The determination of the Nominating Committee as to the legality of the petition(s) shall be final.” Article 4, Section 3 (C). Any Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce member in good standing may be nominated by following the procedure outlined in the by-laws. To facilitate this process, a nomination petition has been developed, but is not required. Any document that includes the required signatures of at least five qualified members, the signature of the nominee, and a statement of willingness to serve will be considered. A petition form may be requested from the Chamber office. Any and all nominating petitions must be received in the Chamber office by 4:30 PM on or before October 15. The Chamber’s Nominating Committee is chaired by Jon Wise (ABR Employment Services). Heidi Prestwood (ServPro) and Jennifer Simunich (Boys and Girls Club of Sparta) also serve on the committee.
