Sparta Employers Receive DWD Grant Support
Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce Coordinates Grant Request
Two large Sparta employers will share $61,276 in “Commute to Careers” grant funding provided by
Wisconsin’s Fast Forward Grant Program. Century Foods International, which specializes in dairy and
vegetable proteins, nutraceuticals, and ready-to-drink beverages, employs approximately 450
employees. The Morrow Home Community offers a continuum of care with a skilled nursing and rehab
care center, assisted living and memory care apartments, assisted living apartments, and independent
living apartments and has approximately 250 employees.
Governor Walker announced grant recipients on Friday, October 26. The two year grant will provide
funding to introduce the “Commute with Enterprise” program to the Sparta area. Employees at Century
Foods International and the Morrow Home Community will have the opportunity to participate in
Enterprise car and van pool commuting at a significantly reduced cost. The goal of the program is to
provide additional benefit to Century Foods and Morrow Home Community workers and assist in
recruiting and retaining quality employees.
The Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce coordinated the grant application and will serve at the fiscal
agent for the program. The state’s media release can be found here: https://walker.wi.gov/press-
