Why did you want to be at Halley?
I like understanding the atmosphere in
different areas. But how could you not
want to come and work here, it’s such
an amazing environment!
Do you launch your weather
balloon on stormy days?
Our leader decides whether it’s safe to
go outside or not at all, or even to get
to the other side of Halley. A bridge
connects the three science modules
so in winds over 40 miles per hour
the bridge gets closed. We can still go
outside as long as we follow all the
ropes and don’t get lost.
Halley is very modern and comfortable.
It’s very nice although we must work to
maintain the station. It’s such a privilege
to be able to work here, let alone visit
Antarctica. It is the one true, wild
continent left on this planet. I know that
people might think the flat white views
around Halley might be quite boring
but the weather changes so much and
makes it so different, beautiful and wild.
