What is it ?
The Big Draw is the world ’ s biggest drawing festival and it happens every year .
What ’ s cool about it ? The aim of the festival is to get everyone drawing and what ’ s more it doesn ’ t matter how !
This year there ’ s the special theme of STEAM , which stands for Science , Technology , Engineering , Art and Maths .
Why does it happen ?
Drawing is good for your health . It gets you to slow down and can help you notice more of the world
around you . You can even share your drawings with family or friends as memories or ideas and give your art to someone as a present . People communicated by drawing long before modern alphabets so in some ways it ’ s a shared world language - a person in Mexico for example would be able to recognise a drawing of a chicken and know what it was , even if they didn ’ t know the English word for it .
