INTERNATIONAL DAWN
CHORUS DAY
is on Sunday 7th May,
so if you and your family are up
early, why not go out into your
garden, a park or a wood to listen
for nature’s magical sounds?
Blue Tits
Just as you learn to sing, so do birds. Baby
birds have a very simple song that grows into
a main song when they are bigger. Blackbirds
have a very rich sound a bit like a fl ute. Robins
make a very sweet musical sound. But other
birds like starlings and jays can copy other
birds and sounds. For example, the starling
can make unusual sounds like car alarms and
telephones! Jays might copy a bird of prey
such as a hawk, to warn other jays of danger.
