Banquet: A feast
with many course
s of
tasty food.
Let’s move on to Windsor’s
rooms called the State
Apartments. These rooms are
where the Queen entertains
special visitors. You won’t
believe your eyes when you
see the Crimson Room – it’s
designed in crimson (a shade of
red) with sofas in that colour,
and golden touches on curtains.
If you like shapes, then the
Octagon Room is for you. If you
were to stand in the middle and
turn around, every 45 degrees
you’d see a diff erent wall.
There’s another room that
might make you hungry! It’s
called St George’s Hall and is
used for grand banquets. The
table is a huge 50 metres long!
In the same hall you can also
see decorations on the ceilings,
of many royal knights. As for
the banquets, lucky guests can
expect fi sh, broccoli, beef from
the Queen’s cows, and ice cream.
Oh, and she loves chocolate!
But where does The Queen
live? She has her own private
rooms to the right of the castle.
Her morning has an unusual
start because she is woken up
by bagpipes, as the musical
instrument is played to her!
That’s better than an alarm
clock! She listens to the radio,
then often meets people from
around the world, sometimes
giving out awards.
Windsor Castle has exciting
history but it is very much a
modern castle too!
