Fantastic Fossils!
Form your clay into a round, stone like
shape. Place it inside some crumpled
tinfoil.
Place your object into the clay and
press down hard to leave a deep impression.

Small objects to
create fossils out of
Tinfoil
Now remove your object (you can use a
toothpick if it is hard to wiggle out!)
Smooth out any marks you don’t want to be on
your fossil.
Now mix up your Plaster of Paris, two parts
Plaster of Paris to one part water.
Pour your plaster into your clay mould, enough
to cover the entire mold and also a little extra.
Shake it gently to get all the bubbles to the
surface!

Now leave it for around an hour for your
plaster to set, then remove the tinfoil.
Peel back your clay mold from the plaster and
reveal your fantastic fossil!
Erupting Volcano
Clean out your bottle and place it on your tray.
Using the clay, make a volcano around the
bottle, leaving the top of the bottle open and
being careful not to get clay in the bottle!
You can decorate your volcano how you wish,
but be warned, whatever you decorate it with
is going to get wet!
Make sure the funnel is dry and then put
3-4 tablespoons of baking soda into the
bottle, using the funnel. Add a few drops of
dishwashing detergent, and about half a cup of
water. You can also add glitter if you like, about
half a teaspoon.
Put a few drops of red food colouring into
about a half cup of vinegar
Using the funnel, quickly pour in the vinegar
and lift the funnel away – your volcano will
erupt immediately, so be prepared for a mess!
