“...recognise that it is only by working together that we can create a sense of community...” Men’s Over 40s Football and Sumantbhai Mistry in Table-Tennis. We would like to congratulate all our members who took part as well as express B R ANCH REPORT our gratitude to those who came to spectate. Special thanks goes to Birmingham branch, who very kindly allowed one of their players to play for Walsall. It is not the first time that Walsall and Birmingham have worked together for a Samaj event and the success that has come from it means that it will not be the last. Another notable event that took place in the year was the Shradh Bhajan, which is always well attended and this year was no exception. This popular event is also a very special one because it gives us the opportunity to remember our loved ones, who are no longer with us. As everyone gathers together to sing bhajans, there is a real sense of community and belonging. We are sure that the Shradh Bhajans will continue to be an event that carries this special feeling for many more years to come. If the Shradh Bhajan is an event to remember the past, the AGM is one for looking forward to the future. This year, we welcomed a new President to our executive committee team – Jaimal Mistry. We are always looking for new ideas and new blood and we are positive that Jaimal’s energy and creativity can lead our team forward, as we aim to build on our recent successes. We wish him all the best as he takes on this new leadership role. However, it is a team effort. The success of our events is also down to our members for their continued help and support. It is important to maintain this philosophy and recognise that it is only by working together that we can create a sense of community, togetherness and belonging.
