satisfying knowing that the funds
raised were for a worthy cause.
Bhojan Prasad was served for lunch
and dinner on both days to over
1,000 pilgrims.
The surplus made from this event will be
donated to SPA (UK) Water Aid project.

Charity Fundraiser – A Night at the
Oscars - November 2012
This was a Hollywood theme and
included a meal, drinks, raffle,
awards and live music from “Dreams
Melodies”. It was an enjoyable night
and over £800 for our 2013 charities
was raised. During the evening, we
were delighted to present £1,001
each to our 2012 charities; Teenage
Cancer Trust and Kettering General
Hospital Special Baby Care Unit.
34th International Waendel Walk –
May 2013
More than 4,500 people participated
and the unpredictable British weather
did not put people off and they came
from as far as Japan and China.
There were 8 people in our group
(others could not attend due to other
commitments), who for the first time
completed the 15km walk in around 4
hours. Although this was our smallest
ever number of walkers, we still raised
an impressive £1,500 for charity.

Around 250 attended this year’s event.
We were pleased with the support of
the yajmans and the public. The pooja
was conducted by Shree Labshanker
Shastri from Gondal Mandir in a
very peaceful and holy atmosphere.
Afterwards, a discourse was given by
Adhyaksh Shree Dr Ravindersanji. He
emphasised to parents and elders that
we need to encourage the younger
generation to take a more active
part in these types of events and to
understand our religion and culture
so as to take it forward. This was
followed by darshan, pranam and
bhojan prasadi for all. The committee
would like to thank all yajmans,
donors, volunteers and the public for
their support in making this event a
success. The money collected will go
to our nominated charities for 2013.
