MY SPORTS DAY

SPORTS DAY

31.08.2013

Namaste everybody .
This is my story about this year ’ s annual Sports Day . The competition was held at University of Loughborough . I played in the Junior Girl ’ s Badminton tournament .
We had to report at the sports centre before 8 o ’ clock in the morning , which was very early , so my father and I decided to travel the day before and stayed at my foiba ’ s house in Nottingham . There was so much traffic on the motorway that day . It took us over 4 hours to get to Nottingham and my foiba and fuvaji were getting worried that we had not turned up . We got there eventually and I played with my cousins and we had dinner . Then we went to sleep early .
My dad woke me up the next morning at 5:30am ( it was still dark outside ) and my cousins were still sleeping ! I was very , very sleepy but I managed to get out of bed . We had a big breakfast and set off to Loughborough . This time , the M1 motorway was very quiet with no traffic and we got to the venue quickly ( YAY !).
We were the first people from London there as my dad had all the wristbands for the London players . I helped my dad to collect entrance fees and I gave out the wristbands . The competitors wore gold / yellow wristbands and the spectators wore pink wristbands .
Then I had to go inside and sit in the main hall with lots of other competitors . There were lots of young kids like me and lots of older people like my dad and there were even some very old people there like my ma and bapa ( but they were mainly spectating ).
I played in the badminton tournament with 3 other girls ; Divya from London ( aged 15 ), Henna from Tameside ( aged 14 ) and Saieesha from Leicester ( aged 12 ). Divya was the best player ( she had won first place last year ). They were all older than me . But I did not mind as I just wanted to take part . But I did score many points and they gave me lots of encouragement . I really enjoyed my games and felt like I was playing at the Olympics . One day when I am older I might be a champion now that I have practiced at the Sports Day .
After my games , we went to look at the other sports . They were great fun to see and everybody was having great fun . I think some of the footballers weren ’ t having fun as they were swearing a lot - I bet their mums don ’ t know !
I met many relatives too . Some were playing and some were just watching .
We had to leave just before the end so I missed the raffle and my chance of winning a Kindle fire ! I also missed the trophy presentation so I will have to check the Sandesh magazine to find out who won .
It was a long and tiring day for me and I fell asleep in the car on the way back home to Watford .
I can ’ t wait to play at the next year ’ s Sports Day . I am going to join the badminton club at my school and practice a lot so I get better every day !
My head teacher at school asked me if I had a good summer . I told her that I played in a tournament with about 500 competitors and over 1000 spectators . She was really amazed that I had a chance to do that and said that I was very lucky .
Hope you liked my story . I used to be in the journalist club at my junior school so I like writing .
I hope to see you at the next Sports Day and hopefully I can win some matches and also write another article !
