there had been no provision or thought of a Senior Samelan on the agenda of the SPA ( UK ) and , as such , by organising such a programme would give an indication to the HQ committee whether to include such an item on their agenda for the future .
The Samelan had a full programme starting from 10am with samuh aarti , prarthnaa and shradhaanjali followed by welcome and swaagat and thereafter with the set out agenda of presentations and discussions led by well known and experienced samaj workers as follows :
• formation , development and progress of the Samaj
• acknowledging the sacrifices by a number of members for the Samaj
• discussion on various topics and Way Forward – Samaj and senior citizens
• healthy eating habits
• presentation by Age UK Leicester
• experience of the Mahilas in the samaj [ See also ‘ Prajapati Sandesh ’ Vol 30 , 2005 ]
• vision of the young Prajapatis in the samaj
Besides a couple of entertainment items , there was a raffle draw , chance to meet with friends and fellow samaj workers and , of course , the delicious bhojan .
Some of the interesting information gathered during the discussion and presentation of the speeches were as follows :
where delegates from Bradford , Birmingham , Bolton , Coventry , Leicester , London , Preston , Rugby and Tameside were present and its executive body was elected to carry the organisation forward .
The progressive work carried out over the years in various branches and at HQ level was only possible due to many dedicated workers - some of who are not present with us any more - who sacrificed their time , effort , skills of various nature , and most important their zeal and enthusiasm for the betterment of the Prajapati Parivaar . The activities performed by each of the branches and the HQ is recorded in the ‘ Prajapati Sandesh ’ published every year . Many thoughts have been put together for the continued improvement in the running of the samaj at each stage .
At international level , the first International Prajapati Conference was held from 23rd to 25th December 2006 in Billimora , India to bring together the Prajapati diaspora of the world and to help launch our community into the 21st century – a forum where ideas
and visions were exchanged and a platform to discuss the unique challenges facing our community . As recent as 2009 , the first ever residential weekend of 11th to 13th September when 35 delegates from a broad age range across the UK gathered in Birmingham and discussed with frankness and honesty to develop a plan for the growth and prosperity of the Samaj in the future . These gatherings and the Sneh Samelan of the senior Prajapatis in Leicester give a broad base of thinking , encouragement and a belief in the community so that the workers can draw in inspiration to carry on serving the community with dignity and diligence .
Sneh Samelan
The first Sneh Samelan or Sneh Milan of the Senior Prajapati members was organised in Leicester on 9th June 2013 .
There had been a lot of talk and discussions about the validity and purpose of organising such a samelan for some time . The main aim had been that since the SPA ( UK ) has been holding Mahila Samelan and Youth Programmes ,
