Spa Life E-Magazine Issue 2 Vol. 14 Summer Gourmet 2014 | Page 32

Summer is here! Which if you're anything like me, that means sandals all day everyday! Unfortunatly, that also means super dry feet.

Here is an easy DIY recipe you can whip up in your own kitchen to help beat the heat on your feet! You can find the ingredients at most health stores.

Ingredients:

Shea butter

Cocoa butter

Coconut oil

Jojoba oil

Peppermint essential oil

Vitamin E capsule

Mixing bowl

Hand or electric beaters

Jars to put your new made cream in

Method:

1. Place coconut oil, cocoa butter, and shea butter in a medium sized pot over low heat. Stir to combine until it melts completely. Remove from heat.

2. Thoroughly mix in the jojoba oil, vitamin E, and peppermint oils.

3. Chill in your refrigerator for an hour or two. You want the mixture to firm up without getting too hard.

4. Once chilled, use a stand mixer or hand mixer to mix until you get a decadent whipped consistency. Scoop into a jar or container. As long as you are using quality oils this homemade lotion should last for 6 – 12 months at room temperature. If your home is extra warm it may melt but you can re-chill and whip it up again. Use everyday and it btw it makes a great gift idea.
