Each of the days would be filled like this with either some other spa treatments, additional evaluations with medical professionals and undergoing tests for food allergies, cardio, thermography, etc.

Kurotel examines all aspects of a person’s health and well-being – physical, mental and what is becoming even more relevant – spiritual.

Their approach is based on five pillars:

healthy diet, physical exercise, emotional balance, hydrotherapy and phytotherapy. These they believe all combine to provide the necessary tools to manage your lifestyle.

What you won’t find here is an impersonal overtly clinical approach. Embraces between staff and guests seemed more the norm and not the exception. I immediately felt I was part of a family not just another patient with issues. It’s like a family home only bigger and with less arguments!

With almost 150 staff servicing Kurotel guests personalized service is a given. That includes what you eat. The kitchen has exact instructions on the calorie intake, any food allergies or foods you should avoid, and what vitamin or mineral supplements you may require with your meals.

KUR SPA IS FOR KEEPS

Kur Spa features leading edge spa and beauty techniques and equipment with a range of treatments from various massages, wraps, ayurveda, reflexology, fango, heccus, shiatsu, shaping therapy, facials and mani-pedis. It also has an extensive Water Circuit program as well as numerous mud and salt baths. My body after all these different treatments felt like a bowl of Jell-O – though I still couldn’t match the limbering moves of a Brazilian samba dancer. Some things are beyond Kurotel’s medical expertise!

Body bliss achieved, now equipped now with a daily dose of high blood pressure medicine, three sessions with the psychologist on my lifestyle, eating habits, and my goals in life, and final consultations with the team of other professionals I was all set. It’s not time to say good-bye however. It’s the beginning of a healthy and long-term relationship. They printed out a variety of test reports, recommendations and recipes that are almost an inch thick.

I’m instructed to keep them up-to-date on my progress. Kurotel cares not just for the week you are there but long after.

After a week of blood testing, kneading, stretching, walking, running, and healthy eating my body and mind feel refreshed, rejuvenated and relaxed. Brazilian body bliss was achieved. More important I came away armed with life-saving health information and tools to live better.

Now if I can only find a way to improve my rhythm.
