This winter has been the strangest of all that I can remember in a long time. The winter wasn't really cold but here in Ontario it went from cold to warm back to cold quite often causing spring to taking its time getting here. And we are still waiting. I had the pleasure of attending a conference in Nashville Tennessee recently and I drove getting to see spring arriving south of us first hand. I went there mainly for a conference for bed-and-breakfast owners. The big subject was spas whether an Inn should open up its own spa or refer their guests to a spa that's already established in their town. That's a pretty big decision and financial investment for any small business owner. I was there to remind people that spas run very differently than a bed-and-breakfast. I do believe that couples and individuals do go away to a bed-and-breakfast to get a break from life and to relax and rekindle whether it be a relationship or friendship they are there for a reason. Spas are the same plus they offer very strong health benefits. I think many of us attend a spa to be pampered versus the health benefits and pampering makes us feel good. Both go hand-in-hand and are a wonderful experience to enjoy. I also reminded attendees at the conference you don't have to have the biggest spa in the world for people to enjoy. They are there for the experience which has to offer quality and be memorable.

The one thing I did suggest conferences that offer long days should have massage therapists and reflexologists onsite. They can offer a well deserved massage and foot treatment to us attendees would happily pay for a welcome 'recharge' during a long day of learning! So any event planners and spa owner out there offer up some staff and do some onsite treatments for local conferences and events! That would make me sign up early for the next one for sure!!

Spring means new beginnings.....
