Series aims to build a stronger Army
The Salvation Army’s vision of one army united
in calling, commitment and Christ is presented and
explained in an instructional series that International
Headquarters has made available throughout the
world. The One Army series is presented through
booklets, videos and online material and is offered
free to all territories and commands.
Released last fall, the instructional program reflects
the Army’s commitment to the One Army vision
that was launched three years ago. The program
is intended to enrich and deepen the Salvationist’s
understanding of the Army and its motivation and
mission.
“For those who want to know more about
The Salvation Army, this is the most up-to-date,
informative and concise guide available,” General
André Cox wrote on the website dedicated to the
series (www.salvationarmy.org/onearmy). “For
Salvationists who want to confirm their own faith
and mission, this is as reliable and authentic a guide
as you will find anywhere. For those who want to
broaden their horizons, support and encourage others
around the world and learn about other cultures, this
will achieve all those aims.”
The One Army series is broken down into 12
units exploring a Salvation Army united in calling,
covenant, Christ, truth, purpose, prayer, fellowship,
service, faith, holiness, hope and love. Six of the 12
units have already been released this year and IHQ
will continue to offer units three at a time in December
and in June 2015. Each of the 12 units includes clear
and concise teaching, how the Army expresses itself in
various cultures and a youth component. Throughout
the series, opportunities are provided for group
discussion, linking of Bible passages and texts to the
topic being studied and individual and group prayer.
