Steve Reed was elected to Parliament in the Croydon North by-election in
November 2012. In 2006 Steve led Labour back to power in Lambeth,
defeating a Tory-Lib Dem coalition and making Labour's sole council gain
that year. In the following six years Lambeth became the fastest improving
council in the country and pioneered the co-operative council approach to
transforming public services. Steve is patron of the Co-operative Councils
Innovation Network was Deputy Chairman of the Local Government
Association and chaired the country's biggest regeneration project at
Vauxhall-Nine Elms. He was appointed OBE in 2013 for services to local
government.
