II The house was full of historical details n July of 2007, Laura and her husband moved into their dream home. The house was a 1905 Victorian sitting on top of a hill out in the middle of corn fields in Iowa. which drew Laura in, such as frosted and leaded glass windows, hardwood floors, and solid wood doors with antique door knobs. Laura took it all in and thought to herself, "We are home." Blinded by the visions and dreams of what the house would one day look like, Laura wasn’t prepared for all of the work that would need to be done for this house to truly become her family’s home. After a long five years and a busy life as mom of six children, discouraged and broke and the list of things still to do was endless. Laura- never the quitter, started a blog in hopes that posting about the home projects would not only motivate her to get them done but would also help hold her accountable. Laura was ready to admit defeat. They were Over the years, she did learn to do lots of DIY projects without spending a lot of money and it wasn’t long before Laura fell in love with the house all over again. 10 Working room by room, Laura is accomplishing her vision. But, as with any house being turned into a dream space, there is always a to-do list and new projects to accomplish. Laura is currently updating her entryway and plans to work on the back porch next and the kitchen in the fall.
