In the Navy

by Michael MacMahan

Far away from home, eyes closed. Boom! Awoken by the sound of an explosion, Clearance was caught off guard while deep in slumber. What used to be his spick and spot barracks was now filling up with pitch black smoke. As black streaks started to blacken the walls of the room, Clearance made his escape quickly using all his parkour skills to hop over the beds at the same time inhaling big gulps of poisonous gases.

As he came out of the black abyss of his barracks he was greeted by the sound of war. Just as he finished assessing the issue, he was overcome with the overpowering rumble of a torpedo striking the ship's hull. There was an enemy cruiser almost directly across from his cruiser plus a group of Kamikaze planes to go with it. One of the twelve Kamikazes went in for a strike and hit, followed by another plane.

Each plane hit a different region of the ship, ranging from the bow, hull, and stern. Their anti-aircraft cannons were the first things the planes targeted. With no defense against anything they were completely out of luck. The ship was just getting bombarded by everything the enemy had to throw at it. The survivors had to get on lifeboats. Lucky for them an ally ship was inbound and almost there. Not too long after the enemy was searching the surrounding waters for survivors, the allies got there and blew the enemy cruiser to bits and pretty much saved the day.
