41 Club Nerja Chairman Jim Skinner and other members of 41 Club Nerja visited the new extension of the Taller de la Amistad association to donate €500 to help with much needed equipment. We were greeted by a local TV crew who interviewed the staff and one of our members, Ragnar, who explained about our Club. The visit was very worthwhile and enjoyed by all. We were given gifts of soap made by the association. 41 Club Nerja is made up of 45 Ex-Round Tablers from ten different countries in Northern Europe and are always looking for new members. We meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month. The first sees us taking our ladies our for a menu del día and are very popular. On the third Thursday we have our ‘normal’ meeting for the men at the Al Andaluz in Maro near the caves. Many of these meetings are shared with our ladies if we have good speakers or a visit such as a boat trip, BBQ, etc. More details can be found on nerja41club.org or ring Alfie on 626 998 626. Many also visited the small, but very interesting museum to learn about the history of this area. The group then travelled the short distance to the unique, white village of Setenil de las Bodegas (pictured below), famous for its dwellings built into overhanging rocks above the Rio Trejo. Here there was time to wander through Calle del Sol and Calle del Sombre, streets situated under the cliffs, to have lunch in one of the ‘cave’ restaurants and some SMALL talk Almijara Bowls Club Gala 23 The Almijara Bowls Club held their Easter Gala competition last month. Torrecilla after the storm Well it wasn’t a storm as such but high tides and very windy weather seem to have changed both Torrecilla and El Chucho beaches a little! I took these photographs on April 22 and I must say I would not fancy using the showers or public conveniences for a while, but I am sure it will all be back to normal in time for summer! ISSUE 188
