Celebrating 25 years
Last month, The Arts Society Nerja,
formerly NADFAS, celebrated its 25th
Anniversary. Guests came from far and
wide, the CEO of The Arts Society
worldwide travelled from the UK to
celebrate with Nerja and to conduct a
10km run from the Balcon de Europa to
the Nerja Caves and back in one hour
and six minutes. The Arts Society itself is
celebrating its 50th year and Florian
Schweizer is doing 50 x 10km runs at
some of the 385 Societies with over
90,000 Members for arts charities. This
week he also ran the 10km in Fuengirola
where The Arts Society Costa del Sol is
celebrating its 30th year and in Gibraltar.
Well done Florian. In Nerja the funds
raised are being used for the Society’s
2019 Charitable Project - SOS Aldeas
Infantiles in El Palo (a UNESCO project)
in conjunction with the philanthropic
Jorge Rando Museum, Málaga. There
was a well-deserved drink and nibbles
with festive mince pies for all courtesy of
Blevins Franks after Florian had
recovered.
Later the Mayor of Nerja, Rosa Arrabal
and other civic dignitaries unveiled an
amazing sculpture, “Nerja kisses the sea,
the sea kisses Nerja” which had won its
at the Parador de Nerja in the very room
where the first Nerja Decorative & Fine
Arts lecture was given 25 years ago. They
enjoyed Spanish music from a local
group Swingate and then an excellent
dinner with good food, wine and friends
old and new.
