The Nerja Players
Fun for all and all for fun …. yes , laughter was the best medicine for The Nerja Players to end their very successful Autumn Season with an Evening Of Comedy presented on December 5 by “ The Two Bees ” ( John Brentley and Peter Burch )… a fun packed couple of hours with rehearsed ‘ dramifications ’ of several acclaimed BBC TV comedy sketches . During the interval the audience enjoyed a glass ( or two ) of mulled wine and mince pies and were invited to take part in Peter ’ s comically concocted “ Twelve Days of Christmas ” raffle which raised € 50 for Nerja ’ s Taller de Amistad …. This was followed the next evening , December 6 , with a fun filled Christmas meal at Los Arcos , organized by our membership secretary , Trish Hall . They ’ d like you to save the following dates in your diaries : January 23 : AGM – opportunities for members to participate in cold readings of yet TBA scripts . Almijara Bowls Club
The Almirjara Bowls club played their Ladies Singles Final in November last year . They had two leagues of six players with the final contested between the two winners of each league . The day started in warm sunshine which made the day more enjoyable , not bad for late November . It was very close fought competition , with quality play in every league match . Both leagues went down to the last round of matches , with an unbeaten Emerita Basham from the first league , and Pauline Trippas from the second league winning this league by just a point . The final was a very evenly matched affair and the score was a draw after 8 ends ; a final end was played to decide the winner and this was won by

Emerita . Congratulations to all , especially to Pauline as a worthy runner up and a special mention to Sue Moulden in her first competition in the club who
managed a notable draw in one of her matches . A great day with an unbeaten Emerita Basham taking home the Evans Trophy .
A Bit of a Do
On Friday December 15 a fund-raising event in aid of the Costa Animal Society was held at the Coach & Horses in c / Almirante Ferrandiz , Nerja . Entitled “ A Bit of a Do ” it proved to be a great fun packed evening and raised over € 600 for the local charity . The evening started with a Carol service followed by a fun rendition of the 12 days of Christmas in
which each table was allocated a number in the sequence to sing . Following a shaky start by some tables everybody got into the swing of it standing up each time that they were required to sing their part . Following on from this was a fun Christmas quiz , Karaoke and general mayhem . The food provided by Coach & Horses owner Cath and her staff took the form of a self-service Hot Dog and Burger bar which proved very popular with everyone . Much drink was imbibed which kept the bar staff extremely busy . The evening was rounded off with a superb Tombola and the main raffle which was for a fantastic quality food and
drink hamper . This was won by Diana Carter ( pictured ). The total amount raised was € 605 which was presented to CAS Chairperson Vera Newing pictured above right with Cath Clynes . A great fun night with a very successful outcome .

Would you like to join a choir ? Coral Coraxalia under the leadership of Eusebio Pita are inviting new singers to become members of the local , longestablished choir . Great , friendly atmosphere , all nationalities , good repertoire , performances and concerts , social events , possible touring , etc .
