CAS News
Perez, Nerja. Our opening hours are Monday to Saturday from
10.00am until 2.00pm.
nurtured the waif and bonded with her. When time came for
them to return home to England the couple decided to adopt
Coco and sought advice from CAS about boarding, vet care and
transport but they paid all costs out of their own pocket.
CAS is always eager to hear from people who are interested in
becoming shop volunteers. One four hour shift once a week
makes a big difference. There are always two volunteers per
shift making for a safe, relaxed, congenial environment. For
more information please stop by the shop and ask to speak
with our shop manager May Delaney.
Coco had to wait until she was three months old to get her
rabies jab and then another 21 days before she could travel, so
she spent more than two months in local cattery and went to
her new home on November 27. CAS was happy to provide
guidance for this adoption and grateful to this couple for
taking full responsibility for Coco’s rescue.
Could you help?
CAS is always in need of more volunteer
helpers in a number of areas so if you have
spare time to fill, please make contact! In
particular, we are currently seeking someone
who can help with fundraising and social
media promotion. In addition, fosterers are
always required to take short-term care of
animals until a permanent home can be
found. CAS provides fosterers with all they
need: food, medicine, bedding, leads, etc., as
well as advice at any time. Even if you are
only here for few months a year, CAS would
appreciate your help. For a no-obligation
chat, contact CAS President Vera Newing on
95 252 9670. And despite the uncertainties
of Brexit among other things, money is
always needed to cope with the continuous
flow of abandoned dogs and cats requiring
help from CAS. If you could donate a
little to help the animals, CAS would be
most grateful.

Patti was brought to
CAS when her
owner went into
hospital and passed
away due to a
terminal illness.
Unfortunately, no
arrangements were
made for this lovely
18 month-old female
Patti
cat and now CAS is
working to find her a new home.
This effort has been complicated by the fact that Patti has
tested positive for feline leukaemia (FeLV), even though she is
an otherwise happy and healthy cat, because she cannot go to a
place where she might come into contact with unvaccinated
cats. FeLV is an infectious disease that can be prevented by
vaccination but if left unchecked can spread and be fatal to
unprotected cats. Therefore, Patti will need to be an indoor cat
or live with other cats positive for FeLV or that have been
vaccinated against the disease.
Life on the streets for a homeless cat is one of constant danger
and a tireless quest for food and shelter. If you would like to be
part of our team helping to shepherd these lovely animals
from the mean streets to loving, forever homes please contact
Fiona via [email protected]
CAS Shop News
With winter upon us, the CAS shop volunteers have been hard
at work restocking our shelves with all the apparel to keep you
warm: trousers, sweaters, mufflers and coats though probably
not any long johns.
From ladies’ and men’s clothing and accessories to linen,
books, DVDs, bric-á-brac, electrics, decorative works, etc, there
is a fantastic selection of merchandise to peruse, all priced to
move. The shop’s large inventory is clean and well-presented
with a friendly staff of volunteers on hand to help.
The CAS shop welcomes all donations of ladies’ and men’s
clothing and accessories. Please help us to restock our shelves.
Of course all
shop proceeds
go directly to
helping our
animal friends
in need,
primarily to
vet bills and
kenneling
costs.
