Residents Day Nerja
Thank you to all who stopped by to say hello to the Costa Animal Society ( CAS ) at this year ’ s Residents Day in Nerja . Treacherous winds threatened more than a few toupees but we all stayed dry . A little more than € 600 was raised , a fantastic result . All , of course , goes directly to the rescue , care , rehabilitating and rehoming of animals in need in Nerja and Maro . A special thanks to Cathy and Juan from The Coach and Horses for manning the grill along with CAS ’ s Vera , Kurt and Laura . ( Thank you also for offering a vegetarian option .) And to CAS stalwarts Colin , Marjorie and Diana for running the tombola . And , CAS would especially like to thank the Nerja town hall and Jacky in particular for organising this event which highlights the diversity of cultures of the ex-pat community who call Nerja home .

Happy Tails
Spring is in full swing and CAS is once again managing an increase in the puppies and kittens which fall under our purview . Bella and Lobo are two youngsters who were abandoned in a house when their owners moved back to their home country and left them behind with little more than a note and a small donation . The manner in which these siblings were dumped was not only cruel for the dogs , who had no idea what was going on , but was also made more difficult for CAS to organise because housing had to be sorted on an urgent basis with no time to plan for foster care .
Fortunately , Bella was soon adopted by a young family from Benalmadena and has already settled into her new life . Lobo is still living in kennels but CAS is hoping he will be re-homed before the summer .
Daisy and Alba were also
Daisy brought to CAS in March as part of a litter of pups abandoned in Maro . These lovely girls were checked over by our vet and vaccinated , chipped and given passports and then placed in kennels . Thanks to the networking efforts of one of our volunteers these sisters found their forever homes in the Motril area and went to their new homes within a few weeks .
Ready for Adoption
Jody is another pup that was found dumped in the Nerja campo and has been taken in by a kindly foster couple . There was no indication of where she came from or a previous owner other than she was very friendly and was in good condition so she obviously had lived in a home before .
Jody is a beautiful , large breed female who is about five to six months old . She is very people oriented and loves to play with other dogs and has been fine when she has interacted with cats . She has been fully vaccinated and chipped and will be spayed when she is a bit older .
Jody Foster
Betty , Benji , Brownie , Marilyn and Munch are some of the other pups which CAS is working to re-home , Brownie currently under care in kennels . These lovely waifs would benefit greatly from living in a home environment so even if you are only in Andalucia for a short time you could make a real difference by fostering one of these youngsters for the society .
