Lux Mundi past and future trips

A few months ago , 33 international friends of Lux Mundi , Torre del Mar , accompanied by trip organiser Carolyn Bowen , spent a wonderful morning at the Quaryat Dillar Olive Oil factory . On a glorious , cold , but sunny morning they travelled by coach to the factory on the edge of the Sierra Nevada where they were very warmly welcomed by Antonio , one of the owners , and introduced to the fantastic guide , Jose , who was extremely knowledgeable and spoke excellent English .
The group were shown the olive grove where they learned about the different varieties of olives and about the growing and care of the olive trees . They were then taken to see all the machinery involved in the making of olive oil , learning about all the various stages of production and they also saw the huge storage vats . After the tour of all the facilities the group was takend to a beautiful hotel in the village of Dilar , with fabulous views to the snow capped Sierra Nevadas , where they were taught how to taste the different types of Olive Oil . Five varieties of prize winning olive oil were sampled with fresh bread from the local bakery . Afterwards there was the opportunity to purchase bottles of oil . The whole tour was so professional and highly recommended . Many commented that they had never tasted such wonderful Extra Virgen Olive Oil !
After the tour the group visited Lanjaron , where there was time for lunch , to view the ruins of the castle and to see the many fountains throughout the town . Everyone enjoyed the day and Lux Mundi would like to thank all who supported this trip , which enables them to continue their charitable work .
This month , on Tuesday June 26 – they are organising a coach trip to Montefrio . Montefrio has recently been included in a National Geographic article as one of the ten towns with the most spectacular views in the world . From the viewpoint here you will be able to see the beautiful landscape of fields and olive trees . You will also learn about the cultivation of the vine and oil in the Olive Oil Museum , visit the Convento de San Antonio , the Museo de la Maquina and the Castillo de la Villa . After the tour there will be free time to have lunch and to further explore the town . We leave Montefrio at 5pm arriving back at 6.30pm approx .
