Hair needs protection too
It's that time of year again, when
your hair goes mad for at least six
weeks and you can’t do a thing with
it. Here are a few words from “the
wise” on how to cope with your hair
when the heat is on. When you are
out and about try and wear a loose
fitting cap or hat or why not try a
scarf or bandana? Boho and gypsy
style are still very ‘in’.
months for that extra bit of
hydration. As we know, the
hairdryer turns into your arch
enemy when it’s hot so ditch it as
much as you can. Get out the rollers
and the hair accessories and start
playing. Keep everything simple,
longer hair twists and plaits pinned
away from the face, maybe get out
the tongs to add a bit of a curl. With
shorter hair get out the Velcro
rollers to get that extra bit of
oomph, add a hair band, plain or
jazzy, and backcomb extra height
on the crown for that dressier look.
Try and keep your hair, if it’s long
enough, tied up in plaits or a bun. It
just helps stop total exposure to the
sun.
When you are putting your suntan
lotion on your skin why not put an
extra helping on your hair, comb it
right through to the ends for extra
protection.
Style wise, fringes are not the
easiest thing to have on your
forehead when it’s sweltering. Bobs
are still the order of the summer,
layered and a bit more shaggy. And
for all those who are here through
the hot spell there is only one
colour and it’s always lighter than
we start with, once the sun has had
its wicked way with our hair. So
cover up, protect and moisturise
you as well as your hair when the
heat is on.
Always wet your hair before going
into the swimming pool, it will help
to stop some absorption of the
chlorine into the hair from the water.
Use a moisturising shampoo and
conditioner during the summer
