Nerja Residents Day couldn’t bear to separate the two. Be on the lookout for the Costa Animal Society (CAS) at the Nerja Residents Day on Sunday April 8. The event will be held at the Plaza de España just behind the town hall. We will have a tombola and information booth as well as a stall featuring English food to be washed down with water, sodas, beer and wine. Residents Day is always a fun day out for the entire family with a full calendar of entertainment organised by the town hall. Visit the numerous stalls and food venues put on by local clubs, charities and small businesses and sample the culture and cuisine from a variety of foreign residents who live in Nerja. The event runs from 12 noon to 5.00pm. In the event of inclement weather, Residents Day will be held the following Sunday. Marina is another story that CAS shared online which resulted in her being rehomed in England. She had been found last winter after being hit by a car and left on the side of the road with severe injuries. Marina’s leg was broken in several places plus she had a ruptured bladder and a perforated intestine, all three of which required major surgery. After spending several months recuperating in foster care she made a complete recovery and was ready for adoption by the end of February. A kind lady in the Doncaster area read about Marina’s ordeal and offered to provide a good home for her there. After a home check was performed by a UK based charity Marina’s transportation was arranged and she was flown to her new life at the end of March. Bella Happy Tails March began on the right paw with several CAS rescues finding new homes in places far away. To start things off our wonderful Punki began her new life with a retired lady in Granada Province where she has settled comfortably in the campo with several cat siblings. Soon afterwards the lovely Rosie flew to her new forever family in Norway Rosie after she finally completed the long preparation process required for travel to Nordic countries. Finally, Bella and Lobo’s story is one CAS has to deal with more often than they should. Apparently, they had been taken in as young pups by European expats with good intentions but when things became financially difficult they had to move back to their home country. Rather than contact CAS in advance the expats left the two dogs in the rental property after they moved out with little more than a note and a small donation. Again CAS shared their story on Facebook and Bella has been adopted by a young family from Benalmadena. Continuing the Granada theme, Marmalade the cat, who had wandered into a CAS volunteer’s house in early February and stayed, joined a menagerie of three dogs and two other cats when he was taken in by a bohemian couple who live in the Sierra Nevada foothills. And to our great pleasure, young Daisy and Alba, who are two very cute Podenco sisters, were adopted by a couple from Motril after their story was shared by CAS on social media. It is a rarity for animal Alba charities to be able Marina Marmalade Lobo Unfortunately, as stated before it is very difficult to rehome two dogs together so Lobo is still on the market. Please feel free to contact Kurt or Laura at 95 252 1426 or Fiona on the CAS website, www.casnerja.org, or the CAS Facebook page if you would like to meet Lobo or any of our other rescue cats and dogs. Punta Lara CAS Quiz Mark at the Punta Lara Bar and CAS invite all quizzers to their next charity fund raiser quiz to be held on April 20 at 7.30pm.
