Brexit presentation Buena Vista Pétanca U3A Axarquia are hosting a presentation by Myra Cecilla Azzopardi of the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain. The title is ‘Brexit and how it will affect you here in Spain the story so far’. It will be held on Friday April 13 at 11am at the Restaurante Parquesol, El Morche, Torrox Costa. Myra has examined in detail the UK/EU joint agreement issued last year and is well qualified to provide reliable, independent advice on your acquired rights, freedoms and residential status as a European citizen. Myra will also be talking about the advice and assistance the CAB can offer on other issues. This will not be a debate on the rights and wrongs of Brexit. The event is open to everyone, not just U3A members and is free of charge. There is plenty of parking opposite the Restaurante Parquesol in El Morche. The Annual Founder’s Trophy competition took place recently at Torrox Park. The winners were Jill Parsons and Keith Bourne with 3 wins and +6 points. Runners up were Sue Cole Almijara Bowls Last month saw the conclusion of the Mens Club Singles competition. It was split into four leagues of seven players. The day started well but the weather deteriorated so the decision was taken to hold the semi finals and finals on a later date. On Friday March 9 the four leagues winners, Jim Whitworth, Phil Gardiner, John Wayne and Paul Evans, took part (next to Ruta 34 motorcycle shop). Free entry, plenty of parking. Charity Presentation Lux Mundi trip The Club International de Nerja has been established for 43 years and has owned its present premises in c/ San Juan for 30 years. It is a social and cultural club which is non-profit making. Each year a nominated charity receives a donation of any money raised through Raffles and such-like during the previous year. For 2017 the nominated charity was The Association Taller de la Amistad in Nerja. The association was founded in 1996 to work with adolescents with special needs. In recent years its work has extended to include younger age groups.
