Padmavat
Released on 26 th January 2018, and directed by celebrated director Sanjay Leela
Bhansali, Padmavat is the one of the highest-grossing Indian film worldwide.
The film is loosely based on the epic poem Padmavat by Malik Muhammad
Jayasi, an Indian Sufi poet. The queen Padmavati (Deepika Padukone) is happily
married to a dashing and daring Rajput ruler Maharawal Ratan Singh, played
by Shahid Kapoor. Sultan Alauddin Khalji, who was the second and the most
powerful ruler of the Khalji dynasty that ruled the Delhi played by Ranveer Singh,
hears of her beauty and enters their life. He calls a war on their kingdom due to his
obsession with the queen. Padmaavat faced numerous controversies and violent
protests before its release.
