As December 31 st is Saint Sylvester’s feast day and hence it’s also called La Saint-Sylvestre. New Year's Day, or January 1, is le jour de l’an. New Year’s Eve feast is called leRéveillon de la Saint-Sylvestre. New Year's Eve is traditionally spent with friends, and dancing, rejoicing, singing It’s a sight to see people all dressed up colouful and happy and beautiful in a ball. Some throw des cotillons (confetti and streamers), blow into the air While it strikes midnight, it’s time to kiss, shake hands and hug… shout, applaud and generally make some noise.
