Survakane
Another New Year custom is
the so called “Survakane”…
children go around their
relatives, neighbours’ homes
with a special “Survachka”
(a tree branch). They
would decorate it with
popcorns, dried fruit
strings, colourful wool
threads, ring-shaped
buns and wish them
infinite blessings. Of
course, in return, they
are offered money,
walnuts, dried fruits etc.
What a sweet gesture!
