Select 2 hen feathers to use as fins. Strip enough fibers from the feather to get a size that best fits to the pattern, (not too small, not to large of a fin). Ty the feather 1 to each side with the curve of the feather facing out.

Rotate the vise so the hourglass eyes are on the bottom. Then ty in a 2.5 inch strip of pine squirrel at the tip for the tail.

Ty in the hourglass eye figure eight style just behind the hook eye on the bottom side of the shark. Then wrap the thread back to a position where the waiting thread hangs right at the hook point.

Just in front of the hook point, ty in a second strip of pine squirrel by the tip. Warp this strip forward with each wrap slightly overlapping the previous wrap, (this causes the hair to lay back) stop approximately 3 to 4 wraps behind the hourglass eye. Secure with additional wraps and trim the tag end of the pine squirrel strip.

Ty in a 3rd piece of pine squirrel in front of the two hen feathers and wrap forward up to the hourglass eye, (an additional turn may be needed to fill in behind the eye. Secure with thread wraps. Trim the excess tag end of the pine squirrel strip. Whip finish and apply a little head cement.
