After an hour or two of catching some of the most gorgeous Brook trout I’ve even seen, we concluded that, “This is not the Cutthroat Stream you are looking for”, still an excellent find and a location that we would return to on future trips.

On the second day after fishing the lower Frying pan for several hours, we went searching again. Driving up a dirt road for better than half an hour, we were again thinking that this must be the path to the elusive Cutthroat stream near the end of the earth. We pulled over to talk with a man stacking firewood on the front porch of his cabin and inquired about a public access trail head we had just passed.

He said there was a stream up the trail quite a ways as he remembered and although he didn’t fish, he had on occasionally seen people with fishing rods at the access.
