Another thing about floating a drift boat down a river in summer, on a weekend, is that the party crowd is typically out in full force. Lots of things in the water to avoid and there are a lot of distractions, including the barrage of questions from every group you come upon. What kind of boat is that? Having any luck? Do they rent those at the canoe place? Are you fly fishing? Have you seen my friend Cathy? You look like pirates, are you guys pirates? Much of this can be avoided by starting early, taking out around lunch time. Then putting back in about the time all the party people are taking out.
