Manchester, Vermont is the home of the Batten Kill, the birthplace and home of Orvis, and the location of the American Museum of Fly Fishing. The Batten Kill was once one of the most famous trout rivers in the country, Orvis is one of the oldest and most successful manufacturers and retailers in the history of fly fishing, and the American Museum of Fly Fishing is one of the finest of its kind in the nation.

Long before anyone knew about the Madison, Missouri, Bighorn, Green, or San Juan; anglers came from all over the country to fish the Batten Kill. The esteemed Lee Wulff even maintained a camp on the river. The Batten Kill was by far the most famous river in New England, and while it has gone through some tough times, it is still worthy of your attention.
