Four dams create impoundments over the length of the river:
Powersite Dam completed in 1913 creating Taneycomo Lake
Bull Shoals Dam completed in 1951 creating Bull Shoals Lake
Table Rock Dam completed in 1958 creating Table Rock Lake
Beaver Dam completed in 1964 creating Beaver Lake
Dam Creation has destroyed much of the warm water fishing opportunities while creating some of the best cold tailwater fisheries in the world.
