At the start of 2017, Girl Scouts of the USA launched a new branding effort and revealed
to us the power of G.I.R.L. (Go-Getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™!
This new brand platform was built to emphasize the types of experiences girls have through Girl Scouting. It defines leadership the Girl Scout way. G.I.R.L. is the literal expression—the essence—of our Girl Scout attitudes, values, and history.
But what does “G.I.R.L.” truly mean aside from being catchy and colorful? Great question! Take a look at what each letter in G.I.R.L. represents and how our Girl Scouts and volunteers are already living these values every day:
Can-do mentality. Ambitious. Lifelong learner.
Experimenter.
We as Girl Scout members know that Girl Scouts show grit like a go-getter, problem
solve like an innovator, embrace the new like a risk-taker, and display empathy like a leader. Through this rebranding effort, GSUSA hopes to reinforce and more clearly communicate our position as a safe, girl-focused envionment where we prepare them to practice a lifetime of leadership through access to thousands of girl-led experiences and skill-building opportunities!
