HOW TO:

Make a Potato Bake

Potato Bake is one of those incredibly popular dishes that we like to roll out time and time again. It's a perfect accompaniment to roasted meats during Winter. However, not all potato bakes are created equal and there are a couple of things you must do to make sure your potato bake has your guests coming back for seconds and thirds.

Firstly, make sure you slice your potatoes evenly. There's nothing worse than taking a big bite of potato bake and discovering that you've bit into a big slice hard potato - undercooked potato bake is just vile.

Secondly, you can't just chuck the seasoning on the top and hope it all works out fine. Potatoes are very starchy and absorb a lot of flavour so you need to season each layer of potato individually.

If you get these two things right, and use good quality cheese then you'll be rewarded with a gorgeous, creamy potato dish and effusive compliments from all your happy dining companions.
