COASTLINES AND BEACHES

85% of Australians live within 50km of the coastline. At the current rate of global warming sea levels will rise by almost half a metre by 2100, increasing the risk of coastal flooding of the cities beaches we love.

URBAN GREEN SPACES (SPORTING)

Sports will also suffer under climate change. Increased temperatures could damage urban sports grounds - during the Millennium Drought, 74 sports grounds damaged coasting $1.3 million in repairs in Dandenong alone.

WETLANDS

Reduced rainfall and higher temperatures in inland areas could put wetlands at risk of drying up. If wetlands dry up, so will habitat and breeding sites for waterbirds such as brolgas, egrets and Australasian bitterns
