Every Student Succeeds Act 2015
Good For Private Schools
Private Schools may now receive additional government
funding thanks to new ESSA guidelines.
TITLE 1 ALLOCATIONS MAY INCREASE
Private schools may receive an increase in Title 1 allocations as public
schools will need to participate in equitable distribution of funds
FUNDS FOR TEACHER SERVICES
Funding for teacher services in private schools may increase based
upon their public school district’s total Title II-A allocation.
EQUITABLE GRANT PARTICIPATION
ESSA introduced two new grant programs, one for Student
Support and Academic Enrichment and one for High Ability
Learners and Learning. Private and public schools must participate
equitably in the two grants.
OMBUDSMAN TO MONITOR COMPLIANCE
States are to designate an ombudsman to monitor the requirements
and ensure equitable services to private school students and teachers.
WHEN DOES IT GO INTO EFFECT?
This new legislation will take full effect in school year 2017-18
