Give it Some Welly!
Worcester Welly Library tells us what it’s all
about...
How did Worcester Welly Library (WWL) start?
The whole idea came about in Oct/
Nov last year when some of the
Mums on Worcester Mums Network
FB page talked about how expensive
the purchase of wellies were, having
to buy one pair for home and another
for forest school. There is an NCT
welly library in Malvern but I wanted
to set one up to serve Worcester myself. I set up the welly library FB page just after I'd started maternity leave, in July.
Where do the wellies come from?
I started collecting donations of wellies around the end of last
year, and we have so far had the generous support of Jojo
Maman Bebe, Frugi and Hatley who have all donated free wellies - particularly Hatley who donated 16 pairs of wellies last
month and have pledged to continue to support us twice each
year.
What are your plans for the future of WWL?
In the future, our plans are to assemble a shed at home and
store the wellies (over 100 pairs now!) in a much better way as
they're organised in my son's bedroom at the moment (he's only
4 months old, so still in with us!). The WWL is based at my
home in Cotheridge at the moment and it would be great to get
a more permanent storage option here so we're working towards the shed. I'm also continuing to find different ways to
raise funds so that we are able to buy more wellies in sizes that
are popular and in demand.
